On June 16, 2018, at approximately 5:30pm, The Litchfield Police Department was dispatched to the 200 block of Charles Bancroft Highway for a 17 yr. old male with a gunshot wound. Officers were advised that the victim was shot in the chest by a .22 caliber round and was conscious, alert and stable.
On scene officers discovered that the round was fired from a Chiappa Little Badger 22LR. It was reported to officers that a round was loaded into the firearm and when the barrel was closed, the round was accidentally discharged.
The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and the investigation into the incident continues.
