John Brunelle for Board of Selectman

I am writing this today, to announce my candidacy for a seat on the Litchfield Board of Selectman. My family and I have lived in the southern New Hampshire area since the late 80’s and moved to Litchfield in 1998. My wife Cathy and I have four (4) children, two of which graduated from Campbell High School; and our younger two (2) boys are attending the middle school.

I decided to become a candidate because I believe in volunteerism and giving back to the community. Our town is experiencing growing pains, and we need to develop a plan to address our fiscal concerns, and still provide the basic services expected by the community at large. As we continue to grow, at whatever pace; we need to support our employees, maintain our buildings and roadways, but still meet the fiscal challenges without breaking the pocket books of our citizens.

In my first attempt to run for office, I was concerned about the lack of communications between our citizens and elected officials; which has been improving over the past couple of years, but there is room for additional improvements. Having been involved in the revamping of the town website and working on several committees, we need to continue the use of technology, to continue the improvement of communications and sharing ideas among the various boards, committees and citizen groups.

We need to continue our efforts in repairing our deteriorating infrastructure and improve the core services provided by the town; with a mind towards our fiscal limitations.

If elected, I will work as a representative of the citizens; and work to improve upon the services and needs of our community.
