About

John Brunelle

I’ve spent 40+ years in systems and network architecture, the full arc from hands-on field engineering to designing enterprise-wide infrastructure for global organizations.

My career started at Digital Equipment Corporation in 1985, where I moved from field service into systems and telecommunications management, then into senior architecture roles. From there I helped build the VoIP business line at BBN/Genuity/Level 3, designing carrier-class calling platforms, SS7 infrastructure, and the network operations center behind them. At Smith and Nephew I served as enterprise architect across manufacturing and financial systems. Today I’m a systems engineer at Cisco, working with financial and retail customers.

The common thread across all of it: designing infrastructure that’s reliable, secure, and built to scale. VoIP, network and systems security, monitoring, UNIX and Windows environments, data center design. I care about solutions that improve efficiency and hold up under real-world load, not just on paper.
